Hiking in MD area

Hi all,

Came across the tribe and joining groups that I'll truly keep up with. I've been an avid hiker since sophomore year of college but always a nature buff. I know the Bmore County area of MD very very well, so if you have any questions please let me know.

OK, I'll bite. Where are the good hiking trails between DC and Baltimore?

I'd start with Patapsco...type it in and I am sure you'll find a website with a map...other than that, I am more familiar with Northern and Eastern Baltimore County.

I agree, Patapsco State Park is a good local hiking place. You can pick a topo map up at the visitor center for about 6 bucks. The northern area is a little less hiked, which is more to my liking. I just did an all day hike out there this past Saturday. Susquehanna State park has some well maintained trails, nice area but a little to crowed for me, but if your jones’in for a hike both places will do. I prefer the Fredrick Municipal Forrest it connects to the northern edge of Gambrills State Park. Gambrills has some nice trails and over looks, but The Fredrick Forrest is just land with no set trails, secluded and fun. The AT runs through Fredrick Forrest then north through Cotoctin Furnace. Both places are good if you enjoy a quiet place to hike and meditate and not encounter people.
